5th August 2010 Listening to an Oracle Podcast where Ronald Rood the author of "Mastering Oracle Scheduler", is being interviewed with regard to his book and was pleased to hear Ronald refer to Scheduler FE. The interview is interesting and so I have included the podcast address below :- http://www.oracle.com/podcasts/author-podcasts.html The interview is entitled "The Birth of Oracle Scheduler.
Alternatively go straight to the podcast by the following address:- http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/OracleAuthorPodcasts/~3/ldd1dPXhSOE/8841911_Ronald_Rood_061610.mp3 28th July 2010 The following four releases of Scheduler FE were made available from the Downloads page.
The new versions include a new audit facility. This outputs to a flat file a copy of all the commands that modify the scheduling system. In the output file is a straight copy of the dbms_scheduler command together with parameters that modified the underlying Oracle scheduler. This functionality can be switched off and the details of this are found in the updated document - "Scheduler FE - Technical Documentation on the Parameter File". Also included in this update is the ability to name the directory/file name of the three output files. This allows the directory where the jar file and the parameter file are to be set as read only increasing the security of the system. Details of this are again found in the updated document named above.
In addition a bug that resulted in the buttons not operating correctly after disconnecting and then re-connecting has been fixed. Finally the updating of the field "Priority" on the Program page has now been included.
22nd June 2010 The following four releases of Scheduler FE were made available from the Downloads page.
The new versions offer a new tree structure that have bespoke icons. These give the user a more visually appealing display which will make Scheduler FE even more useful to its user base.
In addition a bug in the entry of new Chain Rules and Chain Steps has been corrected.
Scheduler FE can display a Chain in a graphics format.
